Cotter Academy students are given the opportunity to take exams each year. The National Dancing Association of Australasian Inc (NDAAI) syllabus is used.
Exams are comprised of barre, arms, components, steps, theory and dances. Students are encouraged to sit one exam per year to uphold a high technical standard.

Dancers who have come from a different highland examining body background are welcomed. Dancers are able to be transferred to the corresponding NDAAI level.
